Jeanie Thomas is a Senior Research Associate in the Jeanie ThomasFiscal Research Center of the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University.  In that capacity, she facilitates the engagement of faculty research as support for state executive agencies and the Georgia General Assembly.

Most recently she was “on loan” from GSU to serve as a Policy Advisory for Governor Sonny Perdue for Transportation, Natural Resources, and Economic Development.   She helped to guide the development of his “Fast Forward” 6-year transportation plan.   A key aspect of this initiative is the importance of the partnership of the several transportation agencies, both regional and statewide.  In addition, she assisted in the passage of the state’s first statewide water planning legislation and the development of the first statewide plan for partnership for land conservation.

Previously, Thomas was a Senior Research Manager for the Governor’s Development Council and for eighteen years, she was on the staff of the Senate Research Office of the Georgia General Assembly, completing her tenure there as Deputy Director.

Thomas has a B.A. Miami University and her M.A. from Georgia State University.  She and her husband Bill have three grown children and one grandchild.
