Jeanie Thomas is a Senior Research Associate in the Fiscal
Research Center of the Andrew Young School of Policy
Studies at Georgia State University.
In that capacity, she facilitates the
engagement of faculty research as support for state
executive agencies and the Georgia General Assembly.
Most recently she was “on loan” from GSU to serve as a
Policy Advisory for Governor Sonny Perdue for
Transportation, Natural Resources, and Economic
Development.
She helped to guide the development of his
“Fast Forward” 6-year transportation plan.
A key aspect of this initiative is the
importance of the partnership of the several
transportation agencies, both regional and
statewide. In addition, she assisted in the passage of the state’s
first statewide water planning legislation and the
development of the first statewide plan for
partnership for land conservation.
Previously, Thomas was a Senior Research Manager for the
Governor’s Development Council and for eighteen
years, she was on the staff of the Senate Research
Office of the Georgia General Assembly, completing
her tenure there as Deputy Director.
Thomas has a B.A. Miami University and her M.A. from Georgia
State University.
She and her husband Bill have three grown
children and one grandchild.
