GRTA's
review operates concurrently with that of the RDC. Both reviews
begin when the local government where the DRI is located files,
electronically, with DCA the information sheet entitled Form 1. DCA maintains an
electronic list of DRI's in process. (Click
here to go to the DCA's Online DRI Information and
Application Web Page). Since the process is
actually initiated by the local government, it is important for
the applicant to work with the planning department in the
appropriate jurisdiction.
Prior
to filing Form 1, the applicant should contact GRTA staff by
calling 404-463-3000 to discuss the project. The DRI Policy
recommends, but does not require, an informal meeting (referred
to in the Policy as a Methodology Meeting). Depending on
the size and type of the DRI, this informal discussion may very
well be handled by phone.
If
the applicant seeks to have the application approved by
Expedited Review, the applicant is strongly urged to schedule a
Methodology Meeting.
Once
Form 1 is filed with DCA, it is automatically transmitted to
GRTA and to the appropriate RDC. The RDC will contact the
applicant, GRTA, and the local jurisdiction to schedule a
meeting within approximately ten days. There are portions
of four RDC's located in GRTA's jurisdiction. The
appropriate RDC depends on the county where the DRI is
located. The following is a list of counties, the
appropriate RDC, and RDC contact information:
