Two New GRTA Board Members Named Gov. Roy Barnes has named two women from the metro Atlanta suburbs, Andrella Baylis and Carolyn J. Williams, to fill vacancies on the GRTA board. Baylis, of Cobb County, is president and chief executive officer of Computer Intelligence (Squared) Inc. in Atlanta. She graduated from Tennessee State University and earned an MBA degeree at Roosevelt Univeristy in Chicago. Williams, who resides in Stone Mountain, is assistant business manager for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 613. She graduated from Spelman College in Atlanta. The two new members fill vacancies created recently when Shirley Franklin and Martin Luther King, III, resigned their seats. GRTA Chairman Joel Cowan noted that Baylis and Williams are joining GRTA at a critical time. The board is expected to vote on the 3-year Transportation Improvement Plan for the region at its next meeting on June 14. "They are taking on a big assignment and it will start with some homework," said Cowan. Cowan said Baylis and Williams will expand the range of viewpoints and experience on the GRTA board. "As residents of the suburbs in Cobb County and DeKalb County, they are familiar with the frustration that people throughout our region experience because of traffic congestion," Cowan said. |
