Board Sets Strategic Directions
On Dec. 2

action. The board began work on a long-term Vision Statement and Mission

the next two years. The 2-year Strategic Directions are:
1. Adopt performance goals and measures, including mobility and quality
of life.
2. Encourage design standards and guidelines to insure connectivity in
the regional transportation system.
3. Public involvement, outreach and education.
4. Adopt policies for reviewing Developments of Regional Impact (which
GRTA must approve), and establish connection between land use and
transportation.
5. Build cooperative relationships with partners including Atlanta
Regional Commission, Department of Transportation, MARTA, Cobb Community
Transit, local governments and other stakeholders in the region.
6. Explore creative sources of revenue, and work to secure funding for
regional transportation system.
7. Establish priorities for regional transportation investments.
8. Develop plans for transportation projects contained in long-range
plan that only GRTA is in a position to implement, including regional
bus service, regional van pools, and light rail in the northwest
