Why is Public Involvement important?
Public participation is two-way communication, with the overall goal
of forming better decisions supported by the public. The growing interest
in public involvement reflects a change in community values regarding
the importance of factors related to quality of life. As the public's
interest in civic issues and policy has increased over the past decade,
so has the desire to be part of the decision-making process. Certainly
we have learned that the most implementable and successful public projects
are those that the community understands and endorses.
