SECAP
now has a new sponsor. On Oct. 1, 2003, the Georgia Regional
Transportation Authority (GRTA) assumed responsibility for SECAP
and the state vanpool program previously administered by the
Georgia Building Authority.
Under GRTA's management the SECAP program will continue as a key
resource for alternative transportation services. The Guaranteed
Ride Home (GRH) Program, which is so vital to many car and
vanpoolers is still available. We have made a few changes in
order to continue to make a convenient service for commuters.
Details are on the GRH page. Transit cards also still
may be purchased through SECAP.
GRTA's
management of the SECAP vanpool program has brought a few changes
too. We are actively recruiting new riders and providing
improved customer service to our current vanpoolers. Check
back in the coming months for exciting new marketing campaign. For
now, go to the vanpool page for updated information on routes,
pricing, and space availability.
The menu of transportation choices is growing as the Atlanta
region continues to expand. Next year, GRTA will launch express
services for commuters in 11 counties, beginning with the first
truly regional transit system for Atlanta. Together, Georgia state
employees in the capitol city can help show how using alternatives
to the single-occupant automobile can be quick and easy ways to
improve congestion and air quality in Atlanta.
